HOW WE RIDE
- First and foremost we care for the safety of all our members. We always brief the route we will be taking and ensure proper placement is conducted for all riders. The Director, Assistant Director, Safety Officer or any Road Captains may make recommendations to the ride leader but it is the ride leaders responsibility. Let the Ride Leader lead the ride.
- Second, your responsibilities as a participant:
- The Chapter is not responsible for accidents, injuries, thefts, etc. Each incident will be scrutinized by the Ride Leader, the Safety Officer, the Road Captains
and the Primary Officers.
- Each individual is responsible for any violation of the law.
- Riders ride at their own risk.
- Participants must be present for the safety / ride briefing.
- If you do not understand something, get clarification.
- Experienced riders should get to know riders with whom they are riding.
- Encourage new riders to be cautious and to ride at their own pace, not unsafely or beyond their personal comfort level. Ride your own ride.
- Maintain your position in the formation until you reach your destination, or, if
you need to exit the group, communicate with the riders close to you of your intent to leave the group.
- If you leave your place in the group, re-enter at the rear, in front of the Sweepers.
- Riding in an unsafe manner with a group WILL NOT be tolerated.
- The safety of the group is everyone's responsibility. It is a rider's obligation to report noncompliance of our riding practices to either the Director, Assistant Director, Safety Officer, or the Head Road Captain.
- Know and ride by these rules, or do not ride with us - its that simple.
- We ride in a staggered formation which we believe allows us to maintain an adequate safety margin for all riders experienced and novice.
- Maintain at least 2-seconds separation between you and the rider to your front.
- Maintain at least 1-second separatation between you and the rider to your front left or right.

- Lane Changes
- The ride leader gives the proper signal.
- Everyone passes back the signal and HOLDS position.
- When safe, the sweep rider will pull over into the target lane and protects the lane.
- As the last car clears through, the ride leader changes lanes and signals others (sweeping signal to the left or right).
- Following the bike in front, each successive bike moves into the new lane.
Don’t jump the change!
- If protecting the lane might cause a traffic hazard, pass when it is safe.
